Sustainable Use of Wildlife Resources
African Chic Designs' game skin bags are made with utmost care for nature using Springbok and
Burchell’s Zebra skins sourced through South African wildlife conservation
programmes. Regulated by strict legislation and recognized internationally,
these programmes ensure the sustainable management of all South African wildlife.
The evident success of the South African conservation
programmes is attributed, among other factors, to the use of advanced
scientific control of the species population. This prevents over-abundance of
certain species which otherwise puts pressure on the entire delicate balance of
the eco-system. One of the common examples of such pressure is over-grazing of
the arid fragile South African plains by the springbok which has a negative
spill-over on other animals, birds, insects and plants found within the plains diverse
habitat. The financial contribution
received from sales of the skins ensures the effective management and
maintenance of the South African fauna and flora.
Further, all skins used in our products originate as a by-product of the economical sale of
the meat in Europe, North America as well as locally in South Africa. In fact, the demand for meat has been
increasing to the extent that more and more springbok is farmed throughout
Southern Africa.
Equally important is the contribution that sale of skins
makes to the welfare of the rural areas where the skins come from.
As an end user of our beautiful products you contribute towards the sustained welfare of the African wildlife and to the creation of job opportunities and a better quality of life in empoverished African rula communities.
